Competition for the Development of a Functional–Spatial Concept for Central Square in Warsaw

Architects taking part in this competition shall design a new square. It is to take the place of the central fragment of the vast Plac Defilad [Parade Square] in the very center of Warsaw. That square was created together with the Palace of Culture and Science Building, which until 1990 had been the second highest building in Europe and is seen by many as a symbol of Poland’s subjugation to the Soviet Union.

The Bench 2017 - International Design Competition

THE BENCH is an idea based design competition open to all ages and backgrounds. The challenge of the competition is to design and install a temporary structure on a street to transform the street environment to a form of public space. The challenge of THE BENCH 2017 is to design a seasonal seating- space along the street edge(s) defined by the competition. Make, the Sir John Soane’s Museum and the World Architecture Festival (WAF) have come together to create a prize for architectural drawing. The Prize recognises the continuing importance of hand drawing but also embraces creative use of digitally produced renderings.

Give a Park Get a Park Detroit

The City of Detroit is launching a design competition in the Morningside neighborhood that aims to design and build a new central park for that community, replacing a decommissioned park that will be sold to adjoining residents.

Give a Park, Get a Park will accept qualifications from interested designers between June 19 and July 31. The city is particularly interested in receiving Qualifications from Detroit- and Michigan-based emerging design professionals and design students.
