The Open Call for Edition 13 of Amsterdam Light Festival is now open! We invite creatives worldwide to submit a concept for a light artwork for the 13th edition of our festival, themed ‘Rituals’.
1. Background - Since the current Jinju National Museum is located within the Jinjuseong fortress which is designated as a national historic site, it is impossible to expand the facility which leads to difficulties in improving outdated facilities, carrying out safety control of museum collections, along with providing visitors’ convenience and expanding safety facilities. - Thus, in order to create a complex cultural space which meets the latest trends in museums that may provide spaces for exhibition, education, museum managers and children’s museum, it is planned to relocate the Jinju National Museum for providing better services to visitors and citizens.
The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), wants to support the study of the design, development and implementation of a new wave of buildings, prototypes, technologies and design solutions of true ecological value that can be extended systematically to be part of the next urban future. For this reason, IAAC and Visoren offer a partial scholarship to study in IAAC’s Master in Advanced Ecological Buildings & Biocities which begins in October 2023!
The European Cultural Academy (ECA) in Venice is offering a full scholarship in 2023 to participants presenting the best project ideas for exploring architecture and the city using film and sound. The prize is a fee-paid place on our "Venicinema" course (4-15 September 2023) worth €1650. The course is led by François Penz, Professor of Architecture and Moving Image at the University of Cambridge, UK.

The STATE PUPPET THEATRE in Stara Zagora and the Ministry of Culture, supported by Stara Zagora Municipality are delighted to launch an international Open Architectural Competition for a conceptual design of the EPAC - Experimental Puppetry Arts Centre at State Puppet Theatre – Stara Zagora. The Puppet Theatre in Stara Zagora encourages those with a flair for the novel, distinctive and unorthodox. The theatre is prepared to take risks in the name of artistic process and the quest of true meaning. The EPAC - Experimental Puppetry Arts Centre will be an incubator for live theatre – syncretic, originally incepted, unconventional, interactive and bold. A meeting point for people of deliberate creative motivation and potential, dynamic, unique and diverse creators. The new centre will aspire to offer opportunities to contemporary artists to grow their talent and create a wholesome space for the development of theatre across the breadth of the art of puppetry. The competition is open to designers from across the world who are passionate about contemporary art and theatre and want to contribute to the design of an unorthodox, out-of-the-box building to be the home of the magic of theatre.

The Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum, Taoyuan is hosting the First Daxi International Wood Furniture Craft and Design Competition with a prize pool of US$49,000(NT$1.5 million). Global design and BIM software provider Vectorworks, Inc. invites students to see where their designs can take them by entering the seventh Vectorworks Design Scholarship. The global competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students in major disciplines related to architecture, landscape architecture, landscape design, entertainment and interior design. Located at the intersection of the east-west and north-south axes of Chengdu City, the Tianfu Cultural Park covers the Shaocheng and Huangchengba areas, stretching from Donghuamen Street in the east to Xijiao River in the west, and from Junping Street-Xiyu Street-Dongyu Street in the south to Dongmen Street-Yangshi Street-Xiyulong Street in the north. This area is the birthplace and historical and cultural origin of Chengdu's 2,300-year history of urban construction. As a driving project to change the urban pattern of downtown area and reshape the urban form, the Tianfu Cultural Park focuses on optimizing and enhancing the cultural inheritance and innovation function, so as to build into a centralized demonstration place of the world famous cultural city, a key carrier of the Western financial center, and the cultural center of Chengdu’s thousand-year historical iteration.

The Canadian Wood Council has announced the winners of the 39th annual Wood Design & Building Awards program. The awards program honors and recognizes the remarkable contributions of architects worldwide who excel in wood design and construction. This year, the program attracted a record 181 nominations from 25 different countries, and 24 winning projects were chosen from the excellent pool of submissions.

Madera: Innovation for Social Architecture in Uruguay is an international architecture competition organized by the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning of Uruguay (Ministerio de Vivienda y Ordenamiento Territorial, MVOT) and MEVIR, with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank. The competition is a call for proposals for new low-rise, single family, housing typologies using innovative wood technology. The winning proposal will be built by MEVIR in a demonstration complex of 20 units in the town of Tranqueras, in the Department of Rivera, in the north of Uruguay. The main objective of the competition is to promote and enhance the use of Uruguayan wood as a construction material for social housing, incorporating design and technological innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainability principles.
