Design + Build Workshop, Lombok 2018

What will workshop participants learn?

Building Trust are happy to announce that our latest workshop will be held in Batu Kliang, Lombok. The region near the waterfall of Benang Stokel, which is one of the major tourist attractions in Lombok, Indonesia. We are going to work with DOME LOMBOK and three local villages that were 90% destroyed after the recent earthquake. A total of 600 houses were destroyed by the quakes and the local community urgently need new housing.

We are offering a hands on participatory workshop where participants will gain experience in sustainable building techniques and understand more about humanitarian design while building a worthwhile project that will have a huge benefit to the local community. Participants will gain an insight into a number of building techniques and architectural styles.

This is a hands on course and will result in a new earthbag dome prototype working with others to learn on-site skills such as:

- Earth construction
- Super adobe
- Sustainable construction and foundations
- Natural plaster

Building Trust volunteer workshops offer participants the chance to meet some fantastic people, learn new skills, visit fascinating locations and contribute to the empowerment of local communities and worthwhile causes.
