World Photo Day: Hertha Hurnaus by Ulla Hell

In honor of World Photo Day (August 19th) ArchDaily wanted to thank the photographers who bring to life the projects that we publish every day. So we asked architects to weigh in on the work of some of our most-appreciated architecture photographers. Here, Ulla Hell of Plasma Studio writes on behalf of Hertha Hurnaus.

World Photo Day: Hertha Hurnaus by Ulla Hell - More Images

We have chosen to work with Hertha because her pictures overwhelmed us because of their elegance! Each image manages that one can focus on a very special detail or look at the composition as a whole.  She catches the right balance between light and shadow to describe a space.

Hertha listens to the architect before she starts photographing, she wants to understand the concept behind a building and tries (and !!!! manages) to express it through her images. She represents a building within its context, no matter if the setting is within a natural or an urban one. The function and the space are represented in the right balance. Her pictures are clear, elegant, to the point, precise and timeless!

Viewing her images is a pure joy!
