The Brazilian architecture offices based in São Paulo, Estúdio ARKIZ and MMBB, were invited by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Brazilian embassy in London to represent South America in the Cities of Tomorrow Talks event, that will take place in October at 6:30pm the RIBA Headquarters in London, UK. More information on the event after the break.

Consisting of lectures and panel discussions, the event objective is to focus on the exchange of ideas between architects from different parts of the globe. Divided in 4 parts, the first one is entitled “São Paulo – South America Super Nexus” and will have its focus on São Paulo and the development of this Brazilian metropolis. Estúdio ARKIZ and MMBB will display a panorama about São Paulo, presenting each ones respective recent projects and discussing what are the characteristics of this dynamic city, and what role is design playing in defining the city’s global role. With the presence of renowned architects such as Richard Rogers, David Adjaye and Jan Gehl, the rest of the event is due to have a diversified approach in discussing the role of architecture in the urban metropolis considering different contexts around the world.

Both Brazilian offices have been invited for their international recognition for their projects. MMBB has had its projects published in many countries, and last year were a part of the “Swarming Futures” exhibition, organized by the Brazilian Embassy in London. Estúdio Arkiz has been recognized as one of the top emerging offices in Brazil, having received the “New Practices São Paulo” award, sponsored by American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Brazilian Institute of Architects (IAB), and at the present moment many of its projects are a part of an exhibition at the AIA-Center for Architecture in New York, USA.
