"The trees stay!" This phrase marked the beginning of our first client meeting on-site. The property featured a pair of pre-existing bays: the first, a lean-to stained with soot where the clay color of the tiles was barely visible; the second, barely standing and covered in metal sheets. The rest of the lot was overgrown with weeds and three trees that we knew from the very beginning would play a major role in the layout of the project. A breadnut (Ramón) tree and a Pixoy tree shape the outdoor terrace and pool area, while a majestic Ceiba tree stands like a protective mother over the home, dominating the scale of the site.
