Text description provided by the architects. Guacamole GMG is a Mexican restaurant chain in Lisbon that has successfully balanced the difficult equation of price, speed, and quality. After designing their first street-front restaurant in Cais do Sodré, the client commissioned a second project—a restaurant located within the Vasco da Gama Shopping Center in Parque das Nações. We questioned what kind of architecture is possible inside a structure designed, in the most forceful way, to stimulate consumption. When we visited the space—an individual unit with a large window overlooking the Mar da Palha—the answer emerged naturally: the new restaurant would be a window onto the water, bringing the sea and the light into the shopping mall.
