Text description provided by the architects. The project accommodates the act of gathering for communal dining, recognizing it as a highly significant experience in daily working life. The gathering is contained by two large horizontal planes—the supporting ground and the sheltering ceiling—forming a single empty space that projects toward the campus. The passage of time throughout the day and the changing seasons is the only thing that breaks this neutrality, through colored light falling from lightwells oriented toward the four cardinal directions.
