Each year, the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA), through the National System of Art Creators (SNCA), honors key figures of excellence in national culture through the Young Creators Program. By providing grants, the program supports the creative and educational development of young Mexican artists, fostering favorable conditions for the execution of original, meaningful, and positive creative projects. For this edition, the grant recipients in the “Architectural Design” category were Ruy Berumen, Diego González, Juan José Kochen, Ignacio Pérez, Elsa Ponce, Luca Salas, and Tania Tovar, who worked under the mentorship of tutors Elena Tudela Rivadeneyra, Rafael Ponce Ortiz, and Patricia Ivonne Álvarez De Anda.
Each edition features diverse activities, including dance performances, literature anthologies, playwriting, screenwriting, indigenous language showcases, graphic narrative magazines, musical compositions, theater productions, and ultimately, the “Creación en Movimiento” (Creation in Motion) exhibition. This showcase presents select projects from disciplines such as Architecture, Applied Arts, Visual Arts, Popular Arts and Traditions, and Audiovisual Media, fostering an interdisciplinary forum that encourages cross-cultural exchange among artists.
The exhibition is held on the second floor of Casa Miguel Alemán within the recently opened Los Pinos Cultural Complex. This venue has been adapted to host 171 artists from 27 states across the country, showcasing research processes as the cornerstone of both the grant's development and multidisciplinary exchange. The exhibition opened in December 2022 and will run through March 2023.
