SITE, Buildings and Spaces: How to rethink architecture exhibitions?

“Domingos Libro” is presented by Carmelo of Enorme Studio, where he delves into forgotten architectural publications, books, and architectural magazines from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, which harbor the most fascinating backstories.

After a hiatus in 2022, the series returned with episode 19, titled “Always Young,” which tells the story of Ettore Sottsass Jr., and episode 20, “No One is a Prophet in Their Own Land,” a tribute to the late master of architecture Ricardo Bofill. Now, the series presents a two-part installment: “Only the Best Products Go to the Museum.” The first part of this double episode is dedicated to the American “architects” of SITE—James Wines, Alison Sky, and Michelle Stone—and how they took BEST showrooms to the pinnacle of art. The second part explores the catalog of the exhibition "SITE: Buildings and Spaces." After exhibiting their work for the BEST showrooms at MoMA, the members of SITE were highly dissatisfied with the traditional, conventional format of that show. Consequently, they designed this exhibition for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, transporting a graffiti-covered construction fence from Brooklyn to the museum and turning it into the centerpiece of the entire exhibition.
