VERTEBRAL: projects in progress combining architecture and landscape in Mexico

It is well known that Frederick Law Olmsted, designer of Central Park in New York; André Le Nôtre, designer of the gardens of the Palace of Versailles; and Alan Titchmarsh, among others, pioneered modern landscape architecture by breaking the mold of traditional practices. Nonetheless, Mexico has developed a remarkable body of work in this field that deserves recognition.

As the history of landscape architecture continues to unfold, recognizing the work of emerging practices is essential. These studios strive to design small oases within large cities—spaces that are now more necessary than ever. Here, we present the work-in-progress of Vertebral, a studio founded by architects Elias Kalach and Teddy Nanes in 2016.
