Tulum is a region located in southeastern Mexico, within the geographic boundaries of the state of Quintana Roo. Situated along the Caribbean coast, it forms part of the Riviera Maya. Historically, Tulum was a walled city, which is the origin of its name—meaning "wall" in Mayan, a term coined when the settlement was already in ruins.
Driven by its rich history and the profound legacy of the Mayan civilization—as well as the breathtaking landscapes, flora, and fauna that embrace it—Tulum, much like other destinations along the Riviera Maya, has attracted both domestic and international tourism, becoming one of Mexico's most popular destinations over the last decade. Consequently, despite being a relatively young city, it has experienced exponential growth, responding to the demand for hotels and restaurants, as well as venues for music, art, design festivals, and spiritual retreats.
