As a result of programmatic uncertainty, the diversity of individual lifestyles, and the impossibility of planning future ways of living, our architectural spaces have begun to call their own boundaries into question. The inability to confine contemporary activities to specific rooms, combined with new demands for adaptability and constant mutation in *micro-spaces*, has led to various architectural strategies in pursuit of flexible living.
Today it seems clearer than ever that our civilization has abandoned the stability with which the world presented itself in the past to, on the contrary, embrace the dynamism of all the energies that shape our environment. Precisely because in our contemporary culture we prioritize change, we can no longer think of firm enclosures, established by durable materials, but rather of fluid, changing forms (…) Ignasi de Solà-Morales, Territories: Liquid Architecture. 2002
With this in mind, we present below a series of homes located in Argentina that, by reflecting on new ways of living, can serve as examples of how to address these new spatial complexities. Here, living rooms are transformed into temporary offices, bedrooms mutate into play areas, and outdoor patios merge with interior zones with just a few movements. Homes are subdivided, living and working spaces are connected or isolated depending on the moment, and architecture emerges as a potential response to contemporary programmatic uncertainties.
