CityMakers is working with ArchDaily to publish a series of articles, conversations, and interviews with the different actors in the co-production of cities behind the Barcelona CityMakers Lab 2019, an event taking place from October 14 to 20.
On this occasion, we feature Salvador Rueda, director of the Urban Ecology Agency of Barcelona, who will give a Masterclass at the Barcelona CityMakers Lab 2019, addressing the challenges of implementing Barcelona's Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan based on "Superblocks".
Rueda is the mind behind the design of the "Superblocks" model, considered by many experts as the Cerdà Plan of the 21st century. The model proposes a reinvention of the urban morphology of the Eixample district in Barcelona, and to date, interventions have been completed in the Poblenou and Sant Antoni superblocks—projects that Barcelona CityMakers Lab participants will have the opportunity to visit and learn about in detail directly from their project leaders.
