The ESCOLA DO BAIRRO (Neighborhood School) borrows its name from its core design concept—that is, the "Neighborhood" is both the name and the guiding concept behind this experimental school for early childhood. Within the local territory, it is conceived as an urban hub for community living, as well as the dissemination and systematization of historical and universally constructed knowledge. It aims to integrate infants and children into general human culture through available and appropriate social, emotional, and cognitive tools. The four natural elements—Earth, Water, Air, and Fire—form the foundation of its Inquiry-Based Pedagogy, driven by learning centered on listening, interactions, play, and research.
