Text description provided by the architects. About an hour from São Paulo, Casa Japão is a sanctuary for creating and reliving memories. Located in a gated community with vast expanses of preserved forest, the project, designed by Cité Arquitetura, was conceived to take advantage of the steep slope of the terrain, creating a gradation of intimacy between its spaces. Seen from the street, Casa Japão overlooks the landscape discretely, allowing the view to pass through the residence while respecting the low density of the construction against the countryside, giving center stage to the sky and the rolling hills. Its entrance suggests a single-story, transparent house, but as one steps inside, a succession of different scale relationships surprises, gradually revealing the residence.
