The BIM methodology is based on the comprehensive management of an architectural project throughout all its phases, as well as its entire lifecycle. To achieve this, we rely on a series of software tools that allow us to manage project information more effectively, significantly contributing to the reduction of costs and execution times.
When approaching a project using BIM methodology, it is necessary to establish which BIM uses will be addressed during each project phase. Generating 2D documentation at any stage or monitoring construction progress regarding production and certification are two of the most clear and common examples of BIM uses applicable to this methodology. Other less common, yet possible, examples include creating virtual tours (VR & AR) or analyzing BMS control data during the building's maintenance phase.
Ultimately, it is up to us as professionals to decide the extent to which we wish to utilize these capabilities.
