EDA Breaks Ground on the University of Utah’s Newest Place to “Live, Work, and Create”

A collaboration of EDA Architects, Yazdani Studio of Cannon Design, and Arup, the ’s newest project for the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute – “Lassonde Studios” – has broke ground. Slated as a space to live, work, and create, the building supports the mission to make the Lassonde Institute an international destination for student entrepreneurs, innovators and “makers.” The Studios will open for students in fall of 2016.

New United States Courthouse Competition Entry / Yazdani Studio of Cannon Design

Yazdani Studio of Cannon Design and Gruen Associates have shared with us their second place proposal for the highly anticipated design-build competition for the new United States courthouse in , California. Envisioned as an icon within the city skyline, the triangular monolith provides a sustainable, 21st century courthouse that embodies the democratic qualities of dignity, stature, transparency, openness and accessibility.

Located at a pivotal node connecting the Los Angeles Civic Center, the Broadway Historic District and Bunker Hill, the 550,000 square foot courthouse is surrounded by a lush civic space that plays an important role in the existing cityscape.

Shortlist announced for the highly anticipated Los Angeles Federal Courthouse

After remaining on hold since 2005, the General Services Administration (GSA) has reinstated plans to construct a new U.S. Courthouse in downtown LA. The 3.7 acre dirt lot at 107 South Broadway, down the street from Morphosis’ Caltrans building, LA’s City Hall, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall, has remained dormant since 2007; shortly after the GSA abandoned Perkins + Will’s estimated $1.1 billion conceptual design due to rising costs. Now, plans for the courthouse have been scaled back and the GSA has just released the shortlisted teams competing of the project. Continue reading after the break to see who made the cut.

Design Concept for Bollywood Museum in Film City / Yazdani Studio of Cannon Design

Along with the Mumbai and Toronto offices, the Los Angeles based Yazdani Studio of Cannon Design announces their conceptual design for the new world-class Bollywood Museum located at Film City in Mumbai, . The design is the physical manifestation of an emotional response to Hindi cinema.
