The Conga Room / Belzberg Architects

The Conga Room, in its new location at LA LIVE in downtown across from the Staples Center, is the city’s premier Latin nightclub. The space will feature today’s hottest Latin performers in its 14,000 square foot live venue space, which includes a restaurant, three distinct bars, patio seating, and a VIP lounge and private room. In addition, the club will host LA TV and world-renowned DJs adjacent to the stage and above the crowd, adding even more excitement to the ambiance. Perhaps the club design’s greatest intent is to be true to the energy of the Latin community, to pay homage to its roots and deep history while infusing it with ’ fervent modern lifestyle.

Brentwood Residence / Belzberg Architects

The Brentwood Residence is located on a large picturesque lot in the foothills of the Mountains. Because the lot did not offer any immediate views from the buildable area of the property, the structures that comprise the project were designed to engage each other while focusing attention on the built and natural landscape within.

Kona Residence / Belzberg Architects

Nestled between cooled lava flows, the residence situates its axis not with the linearity of the property, but rather with the axiality of predominant views available to the site. Within the dichotomy of natural elements and a geometric hardscape, the residence integrates both the surrounding views of volcanic mountain ranges to the east and ocean horizons westward.

20th St. Offices / Belzberg Architects

The 20th Street Offices serve as creative working studios for three design firms in Santa Monica, . They consist of approximately 6,800 sf of studio space in a two story, plus mezzanine, building. They are located on a 7,500 square foot lot in one of the United States top ‘green’ cities. Santa Monica earned this ranking with its extensive Green Building Program and public policies. However, the prominence of sustainable initiatives in Santa Monica doesn’t end with policy; an extensive network of environmentally conscious citizens and business owners, of which the architects of the 20th Street Offices are a member, propels it forward. It is the firm’s desire, along side of its latest trajectories in architectural design and theory, to responsibly lead its fellow citizens, colleagues, and clients in green building initiatives and made no exception when designing their own offices as they pursued a LEED-NC Gold rating.

Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust Opens

©

The 32,000 sqf Holocaust Museum, designed by Belzberg Architects, has just opened.  Sitting across from the Holocaust Memorial, the museum is the new face of the LAMH, the United States’ oldest holocaust museum which dates back to 1962.  To the unknowing passerby, one may not even notice the museum as Belzberg has decided to bury the museum underground – a move that not only preserves the parkland above but also creates a dynamic circulation route bringing people beneath the earth to remember those who experienced the Holocaust.

More images and more about the museum after the break.
