MOSQUE IS MORE. Islam (building) reflects the stark simplicity of the Arabian desert where it was born. According to the teachings of Islam, a simple life (building) is one, which is free from all sorts of items of mere show and formality. A Muslim (building) is not expected to spend his wealth to exhibit grandeur and riches. It is however to be noted that the standard of simplicity varies from each person according to individual status, vocation etc. and as such one common standard cannot be fixed for the whole society. The main object of leading a simple life (building) is not to spend on items of mere external show.

Faith (light) should be the protagonist.

“Architecture is the learned game, correct and magnificent, of forms assembled in the light.”
Charles Édouard Jeanneret-Gris

I’m usually against of jumping in and pointing out similarities between projects.

But this is a major rip off of David Chipperfield & B720′s America’s Cup Building in Spain.

Almost copy and paste!

Just did a lookup. The upper right picture IS a copy and reprocessed image of David Chipperfield & B720’s America’s Cup Building I found on the web (actually google’s first hit).

    Shameless indeed.

HK says:

Islamic art and architecture is much broader than that portrayed here (as is the art and architecture of other religions – Semitic and Eastern). From the adobe mosques in Timbuktu, the simple wooden mosuqes in Java, to the magnificent mosques of Andalusia, Fez, Cairo, Istanbul, Jerusalem, Isfahan, Bukhara and North India, to name some examples.

The difference between spending for oneself and spending for one’s Maker and wider community is the key distinction here.

The intention (and prayer) underpinning religious architecture is that it allows one to to transcend earthly desires, to focus on the Divine, and this may be achieved by the ascetic in a cave or the worshipper in the most ornate setting.

Jubair Siddeeque says:

I read in earlier comments the concept is a repeat. But Understand that everything need not be unique in Concept. The Concept used here is Very strong and Ground as it has got Connection to the Ideology (Islam in this case).
This is much Appreciable work.
Thank you Archdaily for bringing this to notice.
