W Hotels opens its latest flagship in Leicester Square, London. With a rock and roll-inspired bar, a 38-seat 3D screening room and a restaurant run by three-Michelin-starred chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, it stays true to its design and luxury roots.
A lot of thought has gone into this hotel design and it is refreshing to see the use of concrete made to look warm. I would not have liked to be the man on his back fitting 17,000 mirrors to the giant disco ball onsite but it is certainly impressive. Very crisp and and unique, well done!
Nice. Unfortunately, for W in Bali it has become an architectural disappointement. Ever seen a flying saucer above the porte cochere? How about a cobblestone driveway? Ceiling painting in the lobby that looks like it was just done so that the while ceiling does not look so flat? And many more that you’ll find terrible in that place.
Really? I thought it’s quite disappointing. Pointless design.
