The 'Proyectar a Conciencia' 2.0 competition—scheduled for the second academic semester of 2018—is aimed at students and faculty, with the goal of addressing the contemporary initiatives of the Chilean Ministry of Housing and Urbanism (MINVU). Teams of 2 to 4 students may participate with a faculty advisor, and faculty members may advise more than one team.
BACKGROUND The Loja Urban Laboratory is a multi-stakeholder, creative, and innovative space that seeks to support and strengthen local public policy for the comprehensive improvement of neighborhoods and public space through a holistic and sustainable approach. The laboratory’s work contributes to building an inclusive, safe, and equitable city by strengthening an intervention model for peripheral urban neighborhoods, promoting planned and sustainable urban development while optimizing land use and occupancy. The core focus of comprehensive neighborhood improvement is based on the recovery, activation, and appropriation of public space through citizen participation, promoting universal access and enjoyment for all as an exercise of rights, and as a foundation for the right to the city.

Every year, hundreds of students graduate as architects across Colombia, producing projects and theses that reflect their personal interests, research, and motivations. Unfortunately, once their studies conclude, these projects often remain buried in a laptop folder or on a library shelf. We know, however, that many of these theses address fundamental issues in contemporary architectural practice, not only in Colombia but globally.
For this reason, we are launching the third edition of our open call for graduation theses in Colombia. The Mayor's Office of Quito, through the Metropolitan Institute of Urban Planning (IMPU), invites architects, urban planners, and other professionals to form teams with residents and neighborhood representatives in Quito to participate in four Ideas Competitions. These competitions aim to implement the New City Model proposed in the Quito 2040 Vision, selecting winning design proposals for four sustainable neighborhoods.
Competition for Mined Areas for economic and social use
The competition aims to select and award the best projects that propose urban solutions or new activities with social and economic benefits for areas that have been or are currently being mined.
The first competition for architecture and urbanism students and recent graduates, organized by MINIMUM, aims to foster participants' ideas and creativity. Consequently, the challenge is to design a space in front of the Iberê Camargo Foundation in Porto Alegre. The central theme is open, provided that teams adhere to the fundamental premise of creating movement, animation, and activities to reconsolidate the Foundation and its immediate surroundings within the city throughout the week. The five highest-scoring projects will be presented by their teams on September 1st of this year at the Foundation's headquarters. Confirmed jurors include the general director of the Iberê Camargo Foundation, Emilio Kalil. THE TABASCO COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTS (COLEGIO DE ARQUITECTOS TABASQUEÑOS A.C.) INVITES ALL ARCHITECTS RESIDING IN THE STATE OF TABASCO TO PARTICIPATE IN THE XIII TABASCAN ARCHITECTURE BIENNIAL 2018. I. OBJECTIVES. To identify the best architectural works by architects from the State of Tabasco, as well as publications, research, and theses. To recognize their authors. To disseminate the most relevant works to allow, through analysis and critique, a reflection on responsible contemporary architecture and sustainable solutions. II. PARTICIPANTS AND CONDITIONS. All architects residing in the State of Tabasco who hold a professional degree and license and who practice in the state with national or international work may participate individually or in groups. Eligible entries include built works, research papers, publications, theses, and academic projects (see note in classifications) completed during the biennial period from May 2016 to May 2018. Works that have been presented in previous Biennials are not eligible. A work may compete in only one classification.
