The rapid processes of informal urbanization in Metropolitan Lima have hindered the comprehensive planning of many neighborhoods and settlements in our city. Within this context, unequal access to quality public space has emerged as an urgent urban issue that must be addressed and resolved.
Given this, the role of citizens as agents for the care, improvement, and activation of their public spaces is fundamental. Urban intervention serves as a valuable, high-impact tool due to its ability to demonstrate changes and improvements quickly and affordably. Consequently, Ocupa Tu Calle and Alto Perú are partnering this summer to launch an open course on Urban Interventions.
The course aims to train students as agents of change by engaging them in the diagnostic, design, and construction process of two small-scale urban interventions in collaboration with the Alto Perú community.
