Bilgi Architecture School Graduate Program - Summer Workshops
This summer, Istanbul Bilgi University Graduate School of Architecture will host two workshops led by significant international architects. Workshops are open for all architects and architecture students. Participants are required to make a reservation.
Building Trust are happy to announce that we will be working alongside We Yone Child Foundation to design and build a new hall space for a school that we have been working on for the last 2 years. Building Trust have a number of sustainable design and build projects around the World in 2016, ranging from schools and housing to wildlife conservation and healthcare.
We are offering a hands on participatory workshop where you will gain experience in sustainable building techniques and understand more about humanitarian design while building worthwhile projects that will have a huge benefit to the local community. You will gain an insight into a number of building techniques and architectural styles.
In AAVS Brussels you will experiment with film with the cutting edge film director Luis Cerveró. Film will be addressed as a critical instrument to inquire on the role of architecture in providing a space of representation for contemporary political bodies. Brussels, home of Benelux, EU and NATO, will be taken as a paradigmatic example, and the European Parliament as a concrete case study. The output of the workshop will be short films directed by the students and produced with the support of a specialized team from the HELB.
Genoa Summer School 4 // Lisbon, July 21st - July 31st, 2016
Genoa Summer School is an international workshop ideated by Vittorio Pizzigoni and Valter Scelsi, and organized within the Department in Science for Architecture, Università degli Studi di Genova. This year the Genoa Summer School 4 is organized in collaboration with Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade de Lisboa, it will take place in Lisboa, Portugal, from July 21st to July 31st, 2016. The topic of the workshop is "Public Spaces." Ten days of intensive program exploring the power of architecture in reshaping the environment. Students are invited to recognize the role of design in producing public spaces, inside the great traditions of the public

The PERI Foundation have announced the winners of their 10-day “Space for Future Education” workshop in Dagestan, Russia. Organized in conjunction with the Moscow School of Architecture, the workshop selected 30 young architects under 30 from a pool of over 100 applicants from around the globe to develop concepts for a new PERI facility, the Perimeter Center for Culture and Education, in historic Makhachkala overlooking the Caspian Sea.
With help from mentors including Yaroslav Kovalchuk, a teacher from the Moscow School of Architecture; Hiroki Matsuura of MASA Architects; and Narine Tyutcheva and Peter Popov from Russia’s Rozhdestvenka Architectural Studio, 8 teams of 3 to 4 architects developed plans for the new building, containing offices, classrooms, conference rooms, coworking space, an innovation lab and a cafe. There are few mediums that the Grimm Brother's Fairy Tales haven't been adapted into. Bowdlerized stories and films for children have since given way to revisionist tales that embrace the gruesome coloring of the originals, but something about the Grimm Brothers' gothic folklore still holds sway over popular imagination around the world. No matter what kind of adaptation is created - musical, childlike or modernized - the essential Grimmness of the tales still glowers through. FleaFolly's Grimm City is just such a creation.
Budapest-based art program Hello Wood has put out an open call for Project Village, their 2015 workshop and symposium to be held between July 11 and July 19. This year's event follows the success of Hello Wood's workshop in the summer of 2014, which saw participation from over 120 architects, artists and designers from 25 countries.
At the Bengal Foundation's conference, EngageDhaka 2015,ArchDaily learned of the newly launched Bengal Architecture and Design Institute. With a focus on the pursuit of innovation in the lived environment with a focus on human interactions, the forum will enable open dialogue on improving our environments through the lens of architecture, landscape, and settlement for better livability. Bringing together local and international professionals and educators, the Institute will provide a series of lectures, discussions, workshops, and exhibitions to better understand the possibilities within these areas, especially when unified.

Studio Bark, a London based collaborative practice, are inviting students to join them for a summer workshop in order to develop a "prototype for environmental low-energy student led construction." In collaboration with TRADA, the Timber Research and Development Association, the organisers hope to begin to bridge the "enormous chasm between architectural education and the on-site application of architecture" through a live-build project. They plan to give participants an understanding of construction terminology, materials, or technical detailing, all through on-site practice.
