John Wardle Architects has designed a pair of two new building for the University of Tasmania. Created as part of the extensive redevelopment of the Inveresk campus in Launceston, the buildings are strategically located within and between existing campus facilities to amplify the shared opportunities of the precinct. The cornerstone buildings will house a significant portion of the University of Tasmania’s teaching and research activity in Inveresk.

Architecture and design practice Terroir has unveiled a new proposal for the North West Museum and Art Gallery in Burnie, Tasmania. Designed to house both the city's Regional Art Gallery and Museum, the project will be sited along the Bass Highway.As Burnie City Council states, the NWMAG will showcase the region’s natural environment, its history and heritage, as well as the communities shaping the city's future.

John Wardle Architects has unveiled the design for the first building of the University of Tasmania's new $334 million Northern Transformation Project. Located at the university's Inveresk campus in Launceston, Tasmania, the project will include a library and student experience building as the centerpiece of the precinct plan. Working with Tasmanian practice 1+2 Architecture, the design will feature a sawtooth roof to reference the area's industrial heritage.

Australian firm Liminal Studio, in collaboration with Snøhetta and Rush Wright Associates, has been selected as the winner of an international competition for the design of the new History and Interpretation Center at Cascades Female Factory Historic Site in South Hobart, Tasmania.

One of the most significant female penal sites dating back to 19th century, when Australia was still a British penal colony, the Cascades Female Colony was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. The new History and Interpretation Center will allow visitors to learn about the site’s history and how its social, cultural and political implications have impacted present day Australia.

Liminal Architecture is partnering with WOHA and Arup Acoustics and Theatre on a new cultural and performance development for the University of Tasmania. Planned for the corner of Campbell and Collins Streets in Hobart, the building will envelope the existing Theater Royal and create a backdrop to the historic Hedberg Garage.

So far only one image of the schematic design has been released, revealing a porous structure that will, as the architect's describe, "evoke a sense of the activities happening within."
