Paris: The Latest Architecture and News

The french team of FREAK freearchitects have shared with us their recent international competition entry for a Russian Orthodox Church and Cultural Center in Paris. Additional images and a brief description after the jump.

Jean Nouvel was chosen as the lead urban architect and coordinator for the Seguin Island project in July of 2009. Here we are sharing with you the Ateliers Jean Nouvel team master plan for Seguin Island in Boulogne-Billancourt, France.

A diverse group of programs will make up the spaces, total surface area of 300,000 sqm, including cultural, retail, social facilites, parks, gardens, terraces serving as a destination for both residents and tourists. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2010 and final completion is expected for the end of 2023.

Paris based LAN Architecture has shared with us their winning design for the competition organized by SAEM EURALILLE to design an office building for Sogeprom / Projectim in Lille, France. Additional images and insight from the architects after the break.

Jean-Paul Viguier et Associés shared with us his project ‘Majunga Tower’, located in La Défense, Paris, France. More images and architect’s description after the break.

Manuelle Gautrand Architects shared their Enzo Hotel in Paris with us. The hotel’s strong triangular form holds different programmatic elements to engage its lively streetscape. The colorful façade took inspiration from the landscape’s natural palette. The colors add a crisp aesthetic to the building as the different panels and their varying tints add a sleek texture to the form. According to the architects, “Their fragmented bands give a kinetic effect to overall volume – one can see the movement of the cars there, a certain impression of speed.”

Stefan Gzyl shared with us his project “Parc Disponible”, one of the finalists on an international competition recently held in Paris on ways to incorporate nature into the urban environment in original ways. “Parc Disponible” is a glass box enclosing a mini-park for individual use within the city. MVRDV presents the design for the Pushed Slab office building at ZAC Gare de Rungis in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, France. The 19.000 m2 building will be one of the first low energy buildings realised in France; with low energy consumption and an energy production of appr. 200.000kWh per year. Construction of the 35 million Euro building commissioned by French project developer ICADE Promotion is expected to start 2011.
