The British Pavilion at the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale Explores How to Make Public Space More Inclusive

Curated by Manijeh Verghese and Madeleine Kessler, co-founders of multi-scalar design practice Unscene Architecture, the British Pavilion exhibition entitled The Garden of Privatised Delights, at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, will be open to the public from the 22nd of May until the 21st of November 2021. Commissioned by the British Council, the exhibition “reimagines how to make public space more inclusive, countering the rapid rise of privately-owned public space with an inspiring, alternative vision that urges both sectors to work together to create better-designed spaces for all”.

Alejandro Aravena Named as Chair of the Pritzker Architecture Prize Jury

The Pritzker Prize, architecture’s highest honor, has just announced the appointment of Alejandro Aravena as Chair of the Pritzker Architecture Prize Jury as of March 2021, in time for the award’s 43rd year. Moreover, the announcement also designated Manuela Lucá-Dazio, the Executive Director of the Department of Visual Arts and Architecture of La Biennale di Venezia, as an advisor to the Prize and the next Executive Director.

The 16th International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia will take place from May 26th to November 25th 2018, in Venice, Italy.

As the coordinator of the Pavilion of Turkey, Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) will host a series of events and student workshops throughout the Biennial.

This open call by the curatorial team invites students of architecture from all over the world to apply for these workshops in the Pavilion of Turkey.

Werner Sobek's 2016 Venice Biennale Installation Presents a Sobering Environmental Message

The appointment of Chilean architect Alejandro Aravena as the curator of the 2016 Venice Biennale (La Biennale di Venezia) has seen the exhibition take a more vested interest in social responsibility. In harmony with this theme, German architect Werner Sobek has presented a large cube with a sobering social and environmental message. Entitled "Beyond Form," Sobek's intention mirrors Aravena's; it forces the viewer to look beyond the formal elements of architecture to the unavoidable issues facing it in the near future.
