Communities have always thrived and sustained themselves through innovative collaborations with their environment and individuals that surround them. These have often been responses to diverse needs, ranging from celebrations to contestations, formal to informal associations or progressive development to building capacity and resilience. Agency that the communities gain through such associations empower them to translate their needs to tangible and intangible solutions, each unique to the problem, place and time. Architecture can thus be identified as a tangible solution to community needs that emanate out of a collaborative alliance.

The submitted essay should reflect on how collaborative architecture can be a tangible solution to attain good and functional design that enables diversity and inclusion. How do architects reimagine/reframe processes to design for and with communities? What are the possibilities for design interventions that would involve inter-disciplinary collaborations for community infrastructures?

Stroke survivors usually stay in rehab for a long time thus, the rehab has lots of potential to improve stroke survivors' recovery. The "Next Generation of Stroke Rehabilitation Centres" competition challenges students to design a rehabilitation center for 30 stroke survivors with new and ambitious ideas. This competition aims to optimize rehabilitation design based on research outcomes to meet stroke survivors' needs better as they recover.

The PAVE Student Design Competition promotes “real world” design experience for college-level students interested in pursuing careers in the design industry.

【 Overview 】
The WASA World Architecture Student Award is one of the world's largest architecture student competitions held mainly in Japan, China, the United States, and Europe. This is a contest where you can submit works such as design assignments, competitions, and graduation works created in the past as they are, aiming for the diverse abilities of architectural students. AI and architects will comprehensively calculate the rankings and ability values of successive, world, national, and grade rankings for all participating students and provide feedback. A certificate of merit will be given to excellent works, and the works will be disseminated all over the world to liven up the competition with architectural students and architects from all over the world.

The aim of this competition is to encourage students to brainstorm design solutions for issues that plague the world and mankind. The problem can be of any nature ranging from design problems to environmental problems. You have no constraints as to what you can design or redesign, it can be a product, a building, a space, a neighborhood, a city, or even a new type of technology.

The International Union of Architects (UIA) has launched the Great Green Wall single stage student ideas competition open to all students in architecture of the world.

Global design and BIM software provider Vectorworks, Inc. opens its sixth Vectorworks Design Scholarship. This global competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students in major disciplines related to architecture, landscape architecture, landscape design, entertainment and interior design who can now submit either new or past projects for a chance to win up to $10,000 USD.

Architects and architecture students are facing, especially in 2021, in a post-COVID-19 reality, the challenge to design better places for people to work, share and connect. In any city of today or tomorrow, space acts as a unifying element and transformations need to be modelled through visionary and creative ideas. A demanding task is to imagine and shape how our cities will be in 10 years from now.

You can win prizes ranging from €1,000 to €5,000 in this international drawing competition for architecture students.

Young Balkan Designers (YBD) is a regional talent platform founded in 2011 with the aim to identify, promote and develop creative potential of the Balkan region in the field of design. The initiative also aims at unifying the regional design scene, bringing it closer to the international audience, strengthening its potential by providing additional education and practice, while at the same time contributing to the restoration of multi-cultural cooperation in the Balkan region.

Every second year the VELUX Group invites the students of architecture to participate in the International VELUX Award competition on the theme “Light of Tomorrow”.
