The European Collective Housing Award shines a light on collective housing projects that genuinely change how people live – not just architecturally, but socially. We celebrate both the building and its impact: new constructions and renovations, public and private, from anywhere across the 46 countries of the Council of Europe. The open call is aimed at all actors involved in collective housing – architects as well as housing cooperatives, developers, construction companies, public administrations, even residents: until April 30, free of charge, anyone can submit their projects in 2 categories: Renovation and New Construction (must be completed in 2024 or 2025; minimum 3 dwellings per development).
Organised by the Basque Architecture Institute (EAI) and arc en rêve centre d'architecture with the support of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda of the Basque Government, the award brings together architects, policymakers, scholars and citizen representatives around a shared conviction – that housing is one of the most important questions of our time.

Nine outstanding candidates from around the globe will receive full support through the IE and JLL Design Wonder Award to pursue the Master in Interior Design at IE School of Architecture & Design in Madrid. Applications are open until April 30 on the program’s website.

The OBEL Foundation has opened applications for the fourth edition of the OBEL Teaching Fellowships, offering a grant of up to €75,000.
Prospective fellows from around the world are invited to apply in partnership with a host institution. Selected courses are expected to begin in 2027 (or shortly thereafter) and will centre on the 2026 OBEL Award focus: Systems' Hack.
The fellowship supports deeper exploration, development, and dissemination of knowledge on this critical theme within the built environment.
"Supporting influential ideas and approaches that can drive architectural discourse is a key focus for the foundation. We are excited to welcome applications from around the world to gain diverse perspectives on the Systems' Hack agenda. Ultimately, we seek fellows who explore how architecture can critically engage with the systems that underpin contemporary society — from infrastructure and energy to food, water, education and information. Just like the Systems' Hack agenda, education can work in a similar way: moving beyond conventional problem-solving and instead intervening in the very systems on which society and nature depend," explains Jesper Eis, Executive Director at OBEL.
The 2026 fellowship cycle provides funding that enables universities to introduce new voices into academia and develop impactful courses examining how architects can expose, infiltrate, and reconfigure entrenched structures — not by rejecting them, but by transforming how they function. The theme asks whether architecture can become an active participant within ecological and social systems, operate within planetary boundaries, and help reshape the networks of production, governance, and influence on which it depends.

Experimental Foundation’s Spring Fellowship with revalu supports practice based research by emerging architectural practices with applied industry experience. The Fellowship is aimed at practitioners who seek to contribute to a transformative shift in the building sector. It is intended for architects collaborating with clients (developers, public or private) or industry partners who seek to implement regenerative, circular, and climate-conscious solutions in pilot projects, through innovative, systemic-analytical approaches.

IE School of Architecture and Design at IE University announces the fifth edition of the IE MBArch Entrepreneurship Challenge, an international initiative inviting architects and designers to explore the intersection of design, business, and innovation within the built environment.

The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) announces the 13th edition of the European Prize for Urban Public Space. Since 2000, this biennial honorary competition recognizes the best interventions to create, transform and recover public spaces in European cities. For the first time, in this edition the time limit for works submitted is extended to 5 years (completed between the months of January 2021 and December 2025). The call for entries will be open for two and a half months, from 10 December to 26 February.

The Arcause Social Internships Program, a one of a kind initiative by Ethos Foundation | Arcause emerges from this understanding that the future of architecture depends on how deeply it listens, learns, and responds to the world it serves. The program seeks to bridge the long-standing gap between design education and the realities of community development, sustainability, and social
impact. Through this initiative, students and early-career professionals will be placed at NGOs, community projects, and social design studios across India. Here, young and budding architects and designers will be encouraged to see beyond plans and elevations while discovering how spaces can become tools for change.

The 5th annual VMSD Scholarship + Experience recognizes and supports leadership potential in the Interior Design, Retail Design, Hospitality Design, Visual Merchandising, Architecture, UX Design, Engineering, and Product Design fields through a $1,500 scholarship plus an invitation to attend the 2024 International Retail Design Conference (IRDC) in Providence, Rhode Island, this October with airfare, hotel, and daily per diem covered—a prize package totaling $4,500 for this year's recipient.

It all begins with an idea!
Active since 2021, the Inspire Future Generations Awards (IFGA) celebrate exceptional initiatives within the built environment that centre the voices of children and young people. This annual competition welcomes entries from architects, planners, local authorities, developers, and other built environment professionals who are committed to advancing participatory design with children and young people.
The IFGA recognises projects that demonstrate excellence, creativity, care, and a genuine commitment to engaging young people in shaping the spaces around them. Over the past four years, the Awards have played a key role in growing TET’s community of practice: connecting people, sharing knowledge, and fostering collaboration around inclusive and youth-centred design.
Our principal aim of running this awards programme is to open up space for young people to be heard, participate in and empowered in decisions about the environments they live, learn, and play in. By highlighting the value of participation, the IFGA helps ensure that the design of our cities and communities reflects the needs, ideas, and aspirations of younger generations. Each year the winning award entries are added to the TET Resource Bank, sharing knowledge, examples and speakers for TET Dialogues. The entries are featured in our Empowering Environment Report and winners will have space to present and reflect on their work. For 2025, OBEL will grant two teaching fellowships of up to €75,000 and invite prospective fellows from around the world to apply in partnership with a host institution. The taught courses will preferably begin in 2026 (or soon thereafter) and revolve around the 2025 OBEL focus: Ready Made. The aim is to foster deeper exploration, development, and dissemination of knowledge on this key topic within the built environment.

Architect Fumihiko Maki (1928-2024), in his seminal text "Investigations in Collective Form," grapples with architecture's role in an increasingly complex society. Collective Form emerged when buildings came together to produce something larger than the sum of their parts. While today many of these same challenges exist, the notion of Collective Form has also expanded. The Steedman 2026 jury seeks mindful research proposals on architecture's role in producing collective forms/ forums that catalyze a more politically engaged discipline and citizenry. The award for the 2026 winning proposal will be $100,000.
