Open Call: Rio Olympics SUSTAINABLE FANBOX

The biggest sporting showdown of the world, Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games 2016, will commence in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil from August 5. Around 10,000 participants from 204 nations are expected to descend in Brazil, unleashing fierce competition and rivalries.

It is going to be a make or break event for the city of Rio de Janeiro, which has got the privilege of being the first South American city ever to host the Olympics games. It is estimated that around half a million fans and supporters are expected to grace the event in Rio, making it hard for the city officials to control the proceedings.

RTF Sustainability Awards 2016

Re-thinking The Future (RTF) was born from the idea of creating a new window on international trends in architecture and design that looks on to radical solutions for the present day problems facing the domain. RTF is a hub of services for architecture and design. Copenhagen Architecture Festival Summer School: Film and Architecture

Through interdisciplinary master class studios the CAFx SUMMER SCHOOL explores relationships of architecture and film during eleven days in August 2016. Six upcoming architects and filmmakers under 40 years old will co-teach three thought provoking master class studios in Aarhus. The architects and filmmakers have been selected by an international jury on the basis of their recent submissions to the Future Architecture submissions (see here).

Strelka Institute Launches Scholarships for New Master’s Programme

Building Trust International's African Design + Build workshop

Real Estate Architecture - Revisiting the Apartment Building - Summer School

The international Summer School will take place in Liège from from August 20th to 27th. Forty students and recently graduated architects will be invited to rethink the future of the apartment buildings; products of the real estate boom of the '60s. Open Call: EFFIX Pavilion

Devnya Cement AD, a member of Italcementi Group, and Varna Design Forum invite all students of architecture and design, and all young professionals up to 35 years old from all over the world to participate in the international contest for conceptual design of a small trading pavilion, to be situated in the Seaside Park in the city of Varna. The goal is to enrich the urban design of Varna through the realization of a contemporary and inspiring concept for a trading pavilion constructed with the innovative materials of Italcementi Group. The contest will finish with the announcement of a winner selected by a five-member Jury Panel. The winner will be awarded with monetary prize, visit to the "i.lab" research center in Italy and realization of their project as a real-size prototype.

LAMP's 2016 Lighting Design Competition

News from Nowhere: Zürich Laboratory

The Korean artists, MOON Kyungwon & JEON Joonho have teamed up with the design collective, Urban-Think Tank, based at ETH Zürich, to launch the newest version of the ongoing project, “News from Nowhere.” Past versions have appeared in documenta (13) in Kassel and the Sullivan Galleries of the School of the Art Institute in Chicago in 2013. The “News from Nowhere: Zürich Laboratory” establishes an interdisciplinary and participatory platform to discuss the urgent social, political and economic issues. Located in the Migros Museum for Gegenwartskunst, the “News from Nowhere” exhibition brings together artists, architects, designers, scientists, and documentarians in order to discuss issues facing contemporary society.
