A stone’s throw from charming Venice, is the island of Poveglia, a peaceful uninhabited land skimmed by the languishing waters of Venetian Lagoon. From June 1st - 4th, design and urban planning experts from around the globe will transform The Concourse, on Sydney’s North Shore into a digital media technology hub, for the 5th international Media Architecture Biennale 2016. Applications are open for the Art Residency Grants in Oficinas do Convento - Cultural Association for Art and Communication (OC) in Montemor-o-Novo, Portugal. We have launched three vacancies for Art Residencies to take place between September and December 2016.
This Contest for Grants by OC intends to implement a self-funded programme through the application fees. The application have a 20 euros fee and this amount will be used to create the three Residencies.
Artists from all areas, architects, engineers and designers are invited to submit their proposals for projects to be developed in
Port Royal and the Eastern Town sit within the Devon seaside town of Sidmouth with a population of 12,569. The competition site encompasses an area that has been much contested locally, with several local community groups having been involved with, or producing schemes for, alternative visions for this part of the town. It also includes a variety of stakeholders, and land in multiple ownership, including but not limited to Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, South West Water, and individual local landowners.
In a world of climate change, refugees, and displaced peoples in crisis, Pamphlet Architecture asks for visions on the concept of BUOYANCY AND LIFT (FLOATING CITIES). In 2015 Critical Concrete was founded with the ambition of promoting a new model: the refurbishment of abandoned places for social housing and cultural initiatives through summer camp programs centered around sustainable architecture and art in context. In this sense, we want to conceptually reconnect the artist to the amateur and foster the sharing of skills and knowledge between experienced practitioners and surrounding communities, material reuse and sustainable, ecological constructions.
Nickelsdorf - Hegyeshalom A-H (Border between Austria and Hungary)
This exhibition shows 16 pictures of "After Schengen" a series from Spanish photographer Ignacio Evangelista. The "After Schengen" project shows old border crossing points between different states in the European Union. After the Schengen agreement, most of these old checkpoints remained abandoned and out of service, allowing us to gaze into the past from the present. It causes many reflections, especially at a moment in which the EU project is severely discussed.
