The first i2a Biennale will focus on the important territorial transformations currently underway in Switzerland, with more than 20 invited experts from various disciplines participating in a series of encounters and debates. The 3-day event aims to stimulate a dialogue between insiders and citizens, in order to place the transformations of the Swiss territory within a historical, social and political context.
Author of "ConcreteConcept: Brutalist Buildings Around the World" Christopher Beanland will take us on a journey through some of the most iconic as well as some of the unknown treasures of Brutalist architecture around the world. Why were they built, what do they mean and how are they seen today? Are some of the things we'll get to find out about some of the Brutalist Beasts featured inside Beanland's new book.
This event frames embodied energy—defined as the sum of energy required to produce, transport, assemble, and dispose of any building element—in the context of broader design ecosystems and architectural issues. Opening keynote by Michael Specter (The New Yorker), closing keynote by Paola Antonelli (The Museum of Modern Art), and 3 panels featuring international experts from universities and private practices. The event is organized by Columbia GSAPP professor David Benjamin (The Living, NY), who also directs the GSAPP Incubator.

The exhibition “Lars Backer – architect. A pioneer of Norwegian Modernism” tells the story of Lars Backer’s life, explains his contribution to Norwegian architecture, and sheds light on the era he lived in.

Dallas Architecture Forum, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing public education about architecture, design and the urban environment, will continue its 2015-2016 Panel Discussion Series on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 with “The Social Impact of Greening the City” moderated by Donald Gatzke, who served as Dean of the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington from 2004 through 2014 and is now a Professor at the university on the faculty.

The 2016 Quality of Life Conference will bring together key voices from the worlds of architecture, business, design, urbanism and culture to discuss how to improve our nations, cities and workplaces. MCASB invites proposals for a large-scale, outdoor, traveling pavilion to be built and installed at each site of its new public art program, TakePart/MakeArt. As a central feature of TakePart/MakeArt, the mobile pavilion will be a bold and vibrant beacon for MCASB as it travels through three different communities across Santa Barbara County: Isla Vista, the Westside, and the Waterfront.
A “Pavilion” is a space defined specifically for a non-specific purpose. The specificity is the location and non-specificity is its use. A “Pavilion” is also a prototype of tech-crafted tradition and represents a geo-cultural transformation throughout all cultures.
The First International Conference on Urban Physics aims to be a founding event for the numerical simulation of cities and megacities, which are facing worldwide critical problems, such as their dual participation - as victims and actors - to the present and upcoming climate changes. The conference will provide an opportunity for scientists from different disciplines (computer graphics, environmental physics, numerical models, renewable energies, urban planning ...) to confront their ideas and methods for the detection and analysis of physical quantities, in order to better manage the development of cities and to meet economic and environmental constraints.

He is co-founder and curator of catalan-architects. gus wüstemann architects work on all aspects and programs in architecture and urban design. They are working on new typologies and morphologies of housing and in their latest international competition for the Wien Museum Neu they came 8th place.
As Seattle grows, how can housing design keep pace with the evolving ways we are living in cities? Is small housing a viable option? Can smaller spaces make for better living? This exhibit by 2015 Emerging Professionals Travel Scholarship Recipient Garrett Reynolds, explores micro-living spaces in dense urban environments in Copenhagen, New York, Stockholm, and Tokyo.
The Urban Housing Forum will examine how housing design and policy can serve as catalyst for livability and quality of place in an increasingly dense city. The full day program will include presentations on innovative projects, regulatory and development strategies and an investigation into housing’s unique and significant role in shaping individual lives, a sense of community and the overall design of a city as well as a panel on “What Will Make Seattle a Model City?”. In addition, our keynote speaker will be David Baker FAIA, LEED AP of David Baker Architects.
The panel will explore architecture through media in motion. It will look at how the field has evolved in the social media age, through the introduction of various technologies such as film and virtual reality, and business models, such as crowdsourcing. Viral Voices V will look at architecture as the intersection of environment, technology, and design, and how it will influence the new careers of tomorrow.
International students are invited to present their architectural and product design projects to have the chance to be featured on It’s LIQUID website, presented in BORDERS 2016, It’s Liquid Art and Architecture Festival and to take part in the first workshop of VAA – Venice Architecture Academy in May 2016, in the same period of the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale.
