Open Call: NAPAVILION 2016, Napavilion Design Competition 2016
Napavilion Design Competition 2016

A “Pavilion” is a space defined specifically for a non-specific purpose. The specificity is the location and non-specificity is its use. A “Pavilion” is also a prototype of tech-crafted tradition and represents a geo-cultural transformation throughout all cultures.

NAPAVILION challenges this typical ideal of a Pavilion by providing specificity in use and non-specificity or adaptability in site. NAPAVILION is a Pavilion for a nap in any location you choose. This can be within your home, backyard, on a tree, by a tree, on top of a hill, at the foot of a hill, by a river, or floating on a river.

NAPAVILION is unique with a single purpose to nap, with unlimited possibilities of location.

Design a prefabricated structure for individual shelter.
The design should have the ability to be disassembled and reconstructed.
Use wood as the main material.

• Design will be built at Xi’an Jade Valley.
• Selected winners will receive airfare to attend the Nap Festival 2016 at Xi’an Jade Valley.
• 50 Best Entries will be published and exhibited worldwide.

The competition is open to EVERYONE and may be submitted as integrated groups.

Winning entries will have their design fabricated and constructed on the beautiful hills of Jade Valley in Xi’An, China this summer. Please refer website for more detail:
