A traveling photographic exhibition about the life and work of influential Modernist landscape architect Lawrence Halprin (1916-2009). Organized on the 100th anniversary of the year of his birth, the exhibition, organized and curated by The Cultural Landscape Foundation in collaboration with the National Building Museum, is accompanied by a comprehensive website and full color, 92-page gallery guide. It features more than 50 newly commissioned photographs of his built works, as well as sketches, drawings, notebooks, models and other artifacts from the Architectural Archives at the University of Pennsylvania, and drawings from Halprin's personal collection courtesy Edward Cella Art & Architecture in Los Angeles.
The exhibition "3rd Impact: The Identity Paradox. The relationship between architecture, comics and photography” (In Italian “3rD Impact: il paradosso dell'identità. Rapporto tra Architettura, Fumetto, Fotografia”) begins in Matera (Italy) December 28, with the presentation at 10:30 in the church of the former hospital of San Rocco.
Concrete has long been considered particularly harmful to the environment. However, Architect Magazine recently published an article on Nature Geoscience, which may offer some concrete (pun intended) findings regarding the issue.
The study, inspired by the large increase in concrete production in China, utilized an algorithm-based stimulation technique — titled the Monte Carlo analysis— to quantify the carbonation of global cement. Though their results are not completely comprehensive, the team solidified the extreme scale of concrete weathering.

Warsaw has just announced a competition to prepare an architectural conceptual design of a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists, which will connect both shores of the Vistula by the Karowa street.
“This will be our showcase and first passage of the kind for pedestrians and cyclists over the Vistula. Over the last years, we have done a lot to bring it closer to the locals – we have built lanes and boulevards, beaches and cafés. A new bridge, in accordance with the Warsaw Mobility Policy, will substantially improve the quality of life for cyclists and pedestrians,” says Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Mayor of the City of Warsaw.
