Reconvening the Forum on ATHIS Practices in Risk Areas!

In 1986, the first posthumous exhibition of Hélio Oiticica (1937 – 1980) was held, organized by the HO Project, which was coordinated at the time by Lygia Pape, Luciano Figueiredo, and Wally Salomão. For this exhibition, titled “O q faço é música” (What I do is music) and held at the Galeria de Arte São Paulo, the project produced unique editions of the iconic works “Relevo Espacial, 1959/1986” and “Parangolé P4 Capa 1, 1964/1986” to raise funds for the organization, cataloging, and conservation of the works and documents left by the artist.

Her approach is oriented toward the everyday, adopting a versatile and dynamic practice that allows her to maintain a balance between her work and personal life.

Siza and Oscar: Beyond the Sea, a photography exhibition by José Roberto Bassul opening on September 7 at the Espaço Ferreira Alves, at the Casa da Arquitectura, consists of an abstract visual dialogue between the architecture of Siza Vieira in Brazil and that of Oscar Niemeyer in Portugal. Curated by Ângela Berlinde, the exhibition comprises 28 images that pay photographic homage to two icons of modernist architecture.

On this side, the Pestana Casino Park Hotel on the island of Madeira, the only work in Portugal by the Brazilian Oscar Niemeyer. On the other side, the Iberê Camargo Foundation building in Porto Alegre, Brazil, also the only work by the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira.

In an unprecedented partnership with Milan’s POLI.DESIGN, Portobello Shop is hosting the 7th edition of the Archtrends Summit, a creativity forum presented through its trends and references platform, on September 5th from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We are continuing the discussions regarding two relatively recent heritage typologies that require greater attention in contemporary times: modern and industrial heritage. The goal is to foster dialogue between modernity and the industrial production that utilized new materials, construction systems, and architectural works that defined this era. These works must be constantly remembered, as they unfortunately suffer from ongoing alterations or even demolition due to a lack of recognition as heritage assets by much of society.

Growarq Week is an event dedicated to architects, engineers, designers, and students looking to revolutionize their design process through a methodology that combines two software programs: Revit and Lumion. The event will take place entirely online from September 11 to September 13, starting at 8:00 PM each day.

A Gentil Carioca, one of Brazil's most significant contemporary art galleries, is celebrating 20 years of activity. With a strong national and international presence, the gallery embodies the "carioca" spirit. To mark the occasion, the major group exhibition "Forrobodó"—curated by Ulisses Carrilho—will open on September 9, celebrating the political, poetic, aesthetic, and erotic potential of the streets. The exhibition will occupy the two 1920s townhouses that house the gallery’s Rio headquarters, featuring works by approximately 60 artists, including Adriana Varejão, Anna Bella Geiger, Antonio Dias, Antonio Manuel, Cildo Meireles, Hélio Oiticica, Lenora de Barros, and Denilson Baniwa, among others, all of whom have maintained a relationship with the gallery in various ways.

The 7th edition of the Lisbon Triennale kicks off in Venice with a debate centered on the question "How Heavy is a City?" This open, participatory reflection brings together experts from various disciplines, ranging from art to architecture, science, technology, and the humanities.
