“Relocating the Horizon” opens at the Instituto Cervantes in São Paulo

Pucará Traveling Bull
The Consulate General of Peru in Rio de Janeiro, the Instituto Cervantes of Rio de Janeiro, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru present the exhibition Toro itinerante de Pucará (Pucará Traveling Bull), a showcase featuring the finest ceramic works of the “Toro de Pucará.” This mythical figure, which represents southern Peru and is recognized as a national cultural heritage, has been touring the world since 2021, visiting all five continents. This collaboration between the Instituto Cervantes of Rio de Janeiro and the Consulate General of Peru in Rio de Janeiro further demonstrates the strong relationship of friendship and cooperation between the Institute and the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its embassies and consulates abroad.

This major event seeks to recognize and award the best practices in architecture and urbanism nationwide.

Patio Encuentro de Intervenciones Efímeras is a social, cultural, and civic program that fosters the development of community fabric—bringing together artists, architects, students, property owners, city residents, visitors, and public, private, and educational institutions—by reflecting on the impact that historical heritage and contemporary art have on the lives of those who inhabit the city of Puebla. This is achieved through an annual competition for ephemeral art installations, academic activities, and outreach sessions, all centered around the patio: "the heart of the Poblana house."

The XXI Nuevo León Architecture Biennial is an event for meeting, reflection, discussion, critique, and proposal that has become a benchmark for the analysis of architectural practice in the city.

KeObra invites you to the third and final roundtable discussion as part of the 1st KeObra University Competition: Design a Progressive Social Housing Project. At Comunal, we believe it is essential to engage in dialogue, exchange ideas, and reflect critically on how we produce our habitat, while recognizing participation as both a collective right and an ethical-political stance.

"Trébol y Carmesí" is an exhibition that combines photography and landscape design to present a visual diary. Rather than a homogeneous project, it evokes "wild weeds"—a conjunction of nature and urbanity where every moment appears as a "non-place." Building on this, an in-situ intervention was created with Carla Hernández (@dealerdeplantas) to inhabit the exhibition in an architectural and organic manner, drawing from the intersection of urbs-natura-civitas and the photographic work of Erick Conceka.

After two years of the pandemic, "Insurgencias: Experiencias desde el espacio público" arrives for the first time. This gathering brings together the Placemaking Latin America network and the International Festival of Urban Interventions (FIIU), taking place from September 12 to 16 in Rio de Janeiro.

Brazilian art, particularly street art, graffiti, and their derivatives, continues to gain prominence abroad. A case in point is the participation of Enivo, a muralist and co-owner of the A7MA gallery, in ArtPrize 2023. The event is taking place in Michigan, where the artist has been since the beginning of the month preparing two projects for the city.

"How to Design a Revolution: The Chilean Way to Design" is part of the commemorative activities marking 50 years since the civil-military coup d'état in Chile. The exhibition focuses on the graphic and industrial design produced during the government of President Salvador Allende (1970–1973). It is co-produced by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the Centro Cultural La Moneda (CCLM), with the collaboration of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation and the Goethe-Institut Chile. The exhibition will remain on view until January 28, 2024.

The 2023 International Congress of the Faculty of Architecture at the Universidad Santo Tomás, Tunja branch—themed "Innovation and Tradition in the Discipline"—aims to foster reflection on the changes and enduring elements within the field of architecture.
