Our world has shifted. Just over a year ago, campuses across the U.S. shuttered in response to a pandemic that disproportionately impacted vulnerable pockets of our population: the elderly, the disabled, those with compromised immune systems, and underserved racial and ethnic minority groups. With the pandemic as the backdrop, the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and others focused another spotlight on the racial profiling and police brutality that has pervaded society in the United States. It has jarred us awake to systemic inequities and highlighted disparities within our communities. College students were, and still are, at the forefront of a wave of people demanding justice and lasting change.
On the occasion of its sixth year of activity, the Banca del Fare project is looking for 10 students and young creatives to participate in a workshop on the theme of Brand identity (from naming, to logo, to identity visual overall) which will take place in the small village of Monesiglio (CN), at the Caldera-Saluzzo Castle, from 22 to 31 August 2021 on the occasion of the birth of the New Civic Library of Monesiglio.

ArchDaily and IE School of Architecture and Design invite you to unfold the strategic interior design process by solving a challenge for a real client in a real case in a real-time session. The online workshop will take place on June 10 at 5 PM CEST.
Certain cities or parts of a city are lost in the layers of history and fade away from public memory. However, many of such long-forgotten urban conditions are important because within them they are a repository of certain collective culture and consciousness. In this writing workshop, we will write episodical histories of such cities while emphasising key ideas or practices that defined them. The aim would be to create a narrative which can be quickly shared in the public domain.
The name Cascadia calls to mind forests, mountains, water, vast open spaces, cities and towns and diverse cultural landscapes. But the daily reality for most of us is somewhat different. Yes, there are forests, waterways, urban centers and varied neighborhoods in the region, but there are also miles and miles of very similar commercial strip development, connecting towns along highways and hugging urban edges.

The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF) has issued a call for nominations for Landslide, the foundation’s annual thematic report about threatened and at-risk landscapes. "Landslide 2021: Race and Space" will focus on long neglected and largely unknown cultural landscapes associated with African Americans and others. The report will be accompanied by a complementary online exhibition will include newly commissioned photographs and historical images, site plans, other archival materials and video interviews. What is a prison? Prison is a place where inmates are confined and denied a variety of freedoms under the authority of the state as punishment for various crimes. But is this all to a prison? Can’t prison serve to be more than just a set up to punish the convicts? Recidivism is not a very rare occurrence. It's time to put out the question, why? Why do convicts go back to their old means as soon as they are released from the prison? Why are prisons failing to contribute to society?

As urbanization pushes human activity towards Earth’s hinterlands, and existential threats such as—but not limited to—nationalism, warfare and climate change make geopolitical agreements more precarious, how we choose to choreograph and intersect these liminal spaces will reveal much about our priorities.
