The Escola da Cidade Open Courses are extension programs, extracurricular in nature and open to the entire community. They are aimed at anyone interested in expanding dialogues on topics such as history, anthropology, technology, economics, photography, literature, design, music, and more, through a cross-disciplinary lens on architecture and the city. Registration is open from March 4th until the start date of the chosen course.

Italian Design Day (IDD), created by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, reaches its sixth edition in 2022 and will be celebrated in Brazil with an online event on March 23. The event is promoted by the Italian Cultural Institutes of São Paulo (IIC-SP) and Rio de Janeiro (IIC Rio), with institutional support from the Embassy of Italy in Brasília and the Italian consular network in Brazil. The event is held in collaboration with the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED).

It has been 10 years since the Sustainability and Architecture Association (ASA) launched its first ASACCIÓN, a competition aimed at architecture students. The initiative seeks to strengthen public awareness of sustainability and highlight the alliances between various sector stakeholders, ranging from design professionals and public managers to construction industry representatives.

Nara Roesler Rio de Janeiro is pleased to open its 2023 season with the exhibition "Córte," by the celebrated artist Lucia Koch, starting March 16, 2023. The exhibition will feature unpublished works from the "Fundos" series, one of the most iconic in her production, in which she photographs the interiors of empty packaging used to store various products. When enlarged to human scale, these become architectural spaces that interact with the exhibition's path, creating surprising perspectives for the public.

In the design exhibition area, new pieces designed by Superlimão for Amazônia Móveis will be on display. These include four examples of the Cadeira n.6, part of an outdoor furniture collection created by the firm that features durable, lightweight, and versatile pieces.

This year's DW! will feature the launch of the Satélite lamp, created by Superlimão for Luxion Iluminação. Inspired by space exploration devices, the design blends the essential with the unexpected, pairing indirect lighting—which adds comfort to any environment—with an articulated body that allows for endless lighting configurations.

Maria Fernanda Lucena's solo exhibition presents her new series, "Paper Doll." The works were conceived through practices central to the artist's process: cutting and collage. She views these as playful activities that evoke childhood games, while also referencing the customary gestures of the fashion world—a cornerstone of her practice. A regular at the Praça XV antique market in downtown Rio de Janeiro, she sources 3x4 photographs to create layered images, stitching these unknown faces into costumes worn by pop culture icons and her own musical influences.

The upcoming issue of V!RUS journal (www.nomads.usp.br/virus) will address the theme QUESTION OF METHOD (see the full call for papers at: https://bit.ly/2Sj5CaX). The deadline for submissions is March 10, 2020 (publication in July 2020). Articles may be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, or English.

In partnership with Empreendedorismo para Arquitetos, we are bringing a new workshop to São Paulo for architecture students and professionals who are currently entrepreneurs, considering entrepreneurship, or adopting intrapreneurial techniques within their firms.

A partir do Centro is a cultural project consisting of a series of debates, workshops, interviews, and an exhibition. It will take place in cultural venues in downtown Vitória, aiming to promote the appreciation of both memory and the future. The opening event will be held on March 12 at 7:00 PM at the Palácio Sônia Cabral, featuring architect and urban planner Paulo Archias Mendes da Rocha as the keynote speaker.
The project will address contemporary urban themes through a cross-disciplinary approach, using the historic center of Vitória, ES, as its starting point. Among the scheduled events are three debates on March 25, 26, and 27 at 7:00 PM at the Sesc Glória Cultural Center, with workshops and an exhibition planned for May.

Architect Marco Artigas, in partnership with Escola da Cidade, is organizing Module 14 of the open course Paulistana Architecture.

The postgraduate program in "Parametric Design in Architecture" aims to foster the development of technical skills and cognitive strategies, enabling students to create design methods using programming languages.

How can we consider the relationships between art, architecture, humanity, and social housing? Who is architecture intended for? Who does it actually serve? What issues permeate and, above all, affect urban life? These and other questions will be debated at the seminar Imersões: arte e arquitetura (Immersions: Art and Architecture), which will be held virtually on March 2, 3, 4, and 5, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, featuring national and international guests. The seminar will promote a critical debate on topics within the context of the 27th World Congress of Architects - UIA 2021, when Rio will receive the title of World Capital of Architecture from UNESCO.

On March 8, 2021, Simone Cadinelli Arte Contemporânea will open the exhibition "Rubble, Skins, Residue" to the public, featuring new works by artist Jeane Terra. These pieces were created using various unique techniques and processes she has developed over the past few years—including during the months of social isolation—taking as a starting point the rubble of houses in Pontal de Atafona, a beach in the northern region of Rio de Janeiro state that is being swallowed by the sea. The exhibition will occupy the entire gallery. In addition to the "dry paintings"—or "paint skins," a process she created and has since patented—and the "dry monotypes," the show will bring together sculptures, photographs, an embroidery piece, and two installations: a wall excavation and a window display facing Rua Aníbal de Mendonça in Ipanema.
