Since 1989, the Cabildo de Lanzarote has been working to revitalize and enhance the cultural appeal of Arrecife. The primary objective of this project is to transform the El Almacén plaza (Arrecife) into an urban hub for culture and social interaction. This competition represents a significant step toward that goal, as the winning proposal will be built.
Features
• Sustainability and energy efficiency: Spanning over 1,000 m², the plaza should leverage solar energy to support both planned activities and potentially power the El Almacén building.
• Environmental protection: The intervention must be environmentally conscious and propose sustainable usage.
• Treatment of adjacent building facades: The party wall of the neighboring building will serve as a white screen for video mapping, providing a dynamic aesthetic to the plaza.
• Shade: The design must incorporate elements for hanging shading devices, in addition to the inclusion of vegetation.
• Accessibility: The space must be accessible to all individuals with reduced mobility.
• Circulation: Provisions must be made for vehicle access for loading and unloading at specific times. At all other times, the plaza and its surroundings will be pedestrian-only.
• Versatility: The integration and diversity of uses should be encouraged.
The Cabildo de Lanzarote has allocated a construction budget (P.E.M.) of 350,000 Euros for the project.
