The shelter serving as a humanitarian respite center in downtown McAllen, Texas, was created to respond to the needs of families in crisis. Through its services and the selfless work of volunteers, the shelter has helped countless people in need regain their dignity, particularly Central American immigrants seeking refuge after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

The second edition of the project competition for the Des-Adarve Ephemeral Art Festival in September 2018 is open to all artists and design or architecture professionals under 31 years of age.
