On August 31, IABsp will announce the winning curatorial proposal for the 12th International Architecture Biennial of São Paulo. The event concludes the competition and the open process for discussing and proposing the Biennial's theme and content, which will take place in 2019. In addition to announcing the curatorial team responsible for the 12th BIA, the event will facilitate a meeting between participants and showcase the submitted proposals.

On June 11, Arq. Futuro—a platform for discussion on cities—and Insper invite you to a lecture by Pablo Lazo, director of integrated planning at ARUP, at the Insper campus in São Paulo. The event, which is open to the public, will explore the concept of resilience in urban planning, drawing on the experience of the 100 Resilient Cities initiative, supported primarily by the Rockefeller Foundation, with ARUP as one of its partner firms.

The "From Territory to Detail" seminar is a space for academic dialogue and reflection that brings together students, academics, and professionals in the field alongside renowned Latin American architects who share a common trait: balancing teaching activities with professional practice across diverse areas, ranging from editorial work to artistic experimentation.
The seminar seeks to promote relevant practices in Latin America that, characterized by rigorous thought and practice, emerge as significant proposals that foster an inclusive approach focused on positioning innovation as a constituent element of a careful and pertinent creative process.

THE MANY FACES OF THE ARCHITECT: Paths and Challenges of the Profession

The Design Lab UAI curriculum places knowledge at the service of the community, identifying and solving concrete problems, generating applicable innovations, and ultimately contributing to societal development.

Based on this premise, Design Engineering was born—a program that encompasses extensive mastery of new technologies in digital fabrication, programming, electronics, design, and material evaluation.

The event, organized by the School of Architecture and the School of Law at Universidad Finis Terrae, will feature La Reina Mayor José Manuel Palacios among its guest speakers.

Presentation of "The Memory of Surfaces" by Alan Chandler, a professor at the University of East London. This series is organized by Alberto Moletto and Cristóbal Tirado, professors at ARQ UC. The lecture will be held in English.

Wonne Ickx (Antwerp, 1974) studied civil engineering and architecture at Ghent University in Belgium and the ETSAM in Madrid. In 2006, Ickx co-founded PRODUCTORA alongside Abel Perles, Carlos Bedoya, and Víctor Jaime. PRODUCTORA has been recognized by the Architectural League of New York with the Young Architects Forum (2007) and Emerging Voices (2013) awards. In 2016, the firm received the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize for emerging architects from the IIT in Chicago. Among the firm's many publications, its first monograph by Arquine (2010) and the 2G monograph (2014) are particularly notable. Wonne Ickx has taught at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Universidad La Salle, and Centro de Diseño in Mexico City, as well as at UCLA in Los Angeles and the Harvard Graduate School of Design in Boston. Ickx is also a co-founder of LIGA, Espacio para Arquitectura in Mexico City, an independent space that promotes emerging Latin American architecture.

The IABsp will host two debates as part of the programming for the curatorial competition for the 12th International Architecture Biennial of São Paulo. These debates aim to raise concerns and pose provocations that may be reflected in the proposals. The second, "Criticism and Curatorship," will take place on June 30.

Registration is now open for the third cohort of the Insper Executive Education short course, "Urban Innovation: New Ways of Shaping Cities," in partnership with Arq.Futuro. With a 40-hour curriculum starting on October 1st, the course aims to help train citizens capable of interpreting the reality of urban spaces and adopting a critical stance on the future of cities.
