The exchange of ideas and concepts is a major part of any large modern building project. Architects, investors, general contractors and sub-contractors all use different tools to form both mental and modeled images of what the end result will look like. When some parties rely on renders or fly-throughs and others use 2D drawings, it can lead to communication difficulties. Reynaers discovered that by bringing together collaborators from different disciplines in its Avalon, the fog of misunderstandings evaporates and difficult decisions can be made on the spot.

This is an original, miscellaneous, rich, and distinct book that offers the reader an uncommon journey through an unconventional home, designed and built by Javier Carvajal—one of the great architects of the second half of the 20th century—in the mid-1960s in Somosaguas. The measure of the Casa Carvajal's uniqueness is evidenced by the fact that Carlos Saura used it as the setting for his film La madriguera—a telling title regarding the role assigned to the architecture—in which the house plays a part, silent yet omnipresent, with the force of another character in the drama.
We know that the world is changing, and this is a moment to reinvent ourselves in the face of an unprecedented situation. The health crisis has compelled us to transform the way we live and interact today. Office work has been reinvented in response to the need for cultural and digital transformation. Consequently, millions of Mexicans are now working from home—an increasingly common practice that has tested our individual resilience, allowing us to adapt to this new way of working while balancing new responsibilities and activities that promote our performance and well-being.
Isolation viewed from different perspectives and disciplines: this is the central theme of the "Isolated Dialogues" series, organized by the Universidad Finis Terrae School of Architecture, which takes place every Wednesday. Given our current reality, CoRe aims to channel the experiences and sentiments of this coronavirus-induced quarantine through literary expression. To that end, the organization is launching:
The quarantine has highlighted the importance of the role that public space plays in our quality of life. International and regional experts will debate the planning, design, and management of public space in this new context during the 5th International Forum on Urban Interventions (FIIU 5): Urban Resilience. The event will be held virtually from August 14 to 16.
The current global situation forces us to do all kinds of adjustments and we are seeing this as an opportunity to go out of our comfort zone and try something new. We are going online! This allows us to invite architects from different parts of the world and make it possible for you to get to know them from the “AnA perspective”, no matter where you are located. The first round of events will take place before mid-July. Join us!
