IEREK organizes the 2nd international conference on Utopian and Sacred Architecture Studies to be hosted in one of the most spiritual cities, the city of Naples. Naples is one of the oldest continuously inhabited urban areas in the world which makes it a prime example that contains real-life models of sacred architecture, spiritual buildings and sites such as Pompeii, Amalfi Coast, Ravello, etc. To optimize the benefits of going through such an experience, visits to these cities will be designed alongside the conference's main activities.

Design | Thesis | Motivation – is a workshop by Thinking Hand NGO, with an intention to motivate young students from various disciplines and background of Architecture, Landscape and Urban Design. An online workshop conducted through panel members from three disciplines, who shall guide them on their respective verticals of design. Workshop emphasizes on understanding: what is design? What is Thesis? It’s Importance, It’s Process, their interconnection from macro level to micro level with respect to Place, Climate, Context, Time, Space and Activity.

Go virtually behind the scenes and learn more about the currently closed 1917 building which, despite its listing on the National Register of Historic Places, faces an uncertain future.

Open House Chicago 2020 community partner Preservation Chicago co-convenes this roundtable discussion about the Roseland neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side. After decades of disinvestment, what does Roseland need to rebuild its community health and vibrance, and how might historic preservation be leveraged as a means toward such progress? Presenters include Greater Roseland Chamber of Commerce founding executive director Andrea D. Reed, Preservation Chicago director of community engagement Mary Lu Seidel, City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development coordinating planner Erika Sellke, Roseland Heights Community Association president and Red Line Extension Coalition member Clevan Tucker, Jr. and historian, musician, photographer and lifelong Chicago resident Paul Petraitis.

One of the most significant assets of the nation is its unique set of diverse landscapes and the “great outdoors.” This design challenge seeks ways to encourage tourists – both domestic and international – to connect with the Saudi landscape.

On September 29th 2020 TIF-­‐HELEXPO SA launched an international open call for the pre-qualification to participate in the “International Architectural Design Competition for the Thessaloniki ConfEx Park”. The invitation aims to attract architects with the highest degree of competence, creativity, innovation and commitment.

“Housing and Equity” will analyze the physical, psychological, and environmental characteristics of contemporary housing and cities that perpetuate gender roles. These factors limit women's autonomy and development while reinforcing the economic and social logic that maintains the “sacred family” as the sole model for design.

Design House, a collective intervention project by architecture, landscape, design, and interior design professionals, is partnering with Público Coworking to create a series of creative rooms within its newest location in Lomas de Chapultepec. The event will feature more than 40 spaces where architects, designers, landscape architects, and design and interior brands will offer their work for sale, aiming to support commerce and the local economy within our creative industries, which have been significantly impacted by the reality of COVID-19.

This course aims to introduce prospective architecture students to fundamental concepts in the development of architectural projects, specifically those related to materialization. The goal is to facilitate the mastery of a technical language that will be used throughout their academic and professional careers.

We all see because it is a natural human gift. However, if we learn to LOOK through the eye of the camera, we can Frame. If we can distinguish between near and far, sharp and blurry, foreground and background, we can Focus. By prioritizing, categorizing, organizing, and balancing, we can Compose. By drawing with light, concealing with shadow, and saturating and texturing the subject, we can Illuminate. By understanding the situation, tracking movements, positions, and paths, and waiting for the exact moment, we can Capture. The sum of these five actions results in a great photograph.

The School of Architecture at Universidad Finis Terrae will host the symposium "Between Van Eycks and Smithsons: Theoretical Convergences, Practical Divergences. Thresholds, Steps, Transitions," which seeks to delve into the specific conditions of the architectural works of Aldo and Hannie van Eyck and Peter and Alison Smithson, and to debate their conceptual issues.

Starting in November, the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Universidad Finis Terrae will host the "Architectural Criticism Laboratory" seminar. The program will be led by the ARKRIT Research Group, established in 2008 at ETSAM, which focuses on developing architectural criticism as a methodological foundation for design. In their work, the critical exercise serves as the primary driver of the design process, to the point where criticism and design can become indistinguishable.

The competition calls for the conceptualization of a floating housing prototype (FLOATING HOUSE) that functions as an independent unit. Through its design, it should be capable of forming a cluster of 10 units, adding value to the natural environment. The site is located on the Caribbean coast, on the island of Holbox, Mexico.

This book gathers a selection of writings organized into two basic categories: profiles of historical and contemporary architects, ranging from Adolf Loos to the British collective Assemble, and chronicles of buildings—primarily Spanish, though interspersed with European excursions. Straddling the line between the rigor of critical essays and the pleasure that any narrative should provide, these “non-fiction works” are constructed from a unique way of observing architecture, far removed from the clichés common in mainstream media.
