India's leading product designer and an established name in the international art and design realm, Gunjan Gupta will be unveiling Craft-itecture — a series of handmade objects and artworks that breathe new life into traditional Indian crafts from across India at the sixteenth edition of India Art Fair, to be held in New Delhi.

At a time when it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a place to live in large cities
smaller towns are confronted with the opposite problem: Emptiness. According to the
"donut effect", this phenomenon begins in the core of city centers. In Dessau-Roßlau in particular, the reality of ageing and out-migration is rapidly coming to a head. Throughout Europe, however, innovative young projects are already looking for alternatives to meet this challenge. This is also the case in Dessau with the Young City Makers research project. Students from the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences' Departments of Design and Architecture have been conducting action research for two years to find out how vacant properties in Dessau-Rosslau's city center can be sustainably revitalized. Using different approaches, three vacant spaces were transformed into: an urban living room, a street gallery and a bizarre space. In doing so, they show how liveliness and community can be fueled by involving urban society and through design.

The Biennale d'architecture et de paysage d'Île de France, to be held in Versailles from May 6 to July 13, 2025, is the most important architecture exhibition in France. For the third edition, the exhibition at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Versailles is co-curated by architects Sana Frini, from the Mexican office LOCUS, and Philippe Rahm, from the French office PHILIPPE RAHM ARCHITECTES.
In the world of architecture, competitions often serve as platforms for creativity, experimentation, and problem-solving. For Daniel Rojas, Founding Partner of Wandrian Studios, winning the 2023-2024 MICROHOME competition, sponsored by Buildner and Kingspan, was a transformative moment. His project, Urban Residential Pods, addresses the global housing crisis by reimagining vacant office spaces as compact, sustainable homes.
Rojas' design strikes a balance between innovation, functionality, and sustainability, offering a glimpse into how architecture can address some of today's most pressing challenges. Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) was a pioneer of Danish design, known for her innovative approach by which she created furniture to liberate the body. This exhibition highlights Kuma's innovative use of materials and his ability to create a multisensory architectural experience inspired by the concept of onomatopoeia—the connection between sound and material expression.
Throughout history, humans have created landmarks—from pyramids to cathedrals to skyscrapers—to unite communities, showcase progress, and spark inspiration. Now, Shift, a new social venture founded by Dutch entrepreneur Don Ritzen, aims to construct a landmark specifically designed to inspire climate action and which looks to attract over one million annual visitors. To turn this ambitious vision into reality, Shift is launching an international architecture competition on January 15, 2025, with a total prize pool of 250,000 EUR.
The city of Kharkiv has faced significant challenges due to its proximity to the Russian border. Amidst these circumstances, Kharkiv's Mayor, Ihor Terekhov, underscored the need for a new landmark during the United Nations' Second Forum of Mayors—a project that could embody renewal, resilience, and hope. The Freedom Square International Competition was launched as part of this vision, inviting local and international experts to propose innovative designs for Freedom Square and the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Building.
