A travessa—or crossway—represents transversality over convention; it is a shortcut that avoids the obvious, an alternative for shortening paths and connecting disparate pieces juxtaposed by its presence.

Portobello has just launched the Soma line, co-created with architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha; Oh!Take and its complement, Soul, designed by Ruy Ohtake; and Shibori, developed with Italian designer Paola Navone. These products are part of the 2022 Unlimited Dreams collection, launched simultaneously at Expo Revestir and in Portobello Shop stores across Brazil in early March.

The research group City, Architecture, and Preservation in Historical Perspective (CAPPH - UNIFESP) and the Interdisciplinary Center for City Studies (CIEC - UNICAMP) are pleased to invite researchers dedicated to the study of the city from a historical perspective—whether focusing on urban history, urbanism, and urban planning, or related approaches such as historical geography, social, economic, and technological history, among others—to participate in the 5th edition of the Urbanism and Urbanists in Brazil Seminar. The 5th SUUB will take place in a hybrid format from October 12 to 15, 2022, hosted by the School of Philosophy, Letters, and Human Sciences at the Federal University of São Paulo, located in Guarulhos.

The early 20th century in Mexico was marked by a series of social, cultural, and political transformations. European neoclassical artistic influences began to be heavily questioned, and muralism—adopted by the government as a strategy to educate the Mexican people—began to incorporate new narratives, including indigenous and ancestral cultures, while celebrating the revolutionary process.
Collaborative practices between artists and architects intensified during this period. This course seeks to explore and discuss the intersections between art and architecture from 1910 to 1979, based on the work of key figures from this era: Juan O'Gorman and Diego Rivera (1920s–1930s); Mario Pani and Carlos Mérida (the construction of the University City and plastic integration in the 1940s–1950s); Luis Barragán and Mathias Goeritz (1940s–1950s); and Pedro Ramírez Vázquez and La Ruta de la Amistad (1968), concluding with the Espacio Escultórico (1979).

«Bande à part» is the title of a 1964 feature film directed by Jean-Luc Godard, with a narrative centered on a relational triangle. In one of the film's most memorable scenes, the three characters run through the Louvre Museum in Paris at high speed, setting an ironic record for the visit. In this spirit, the «Bande à Part» series, published by Circo de Ideias, is a three-volume theoretical project by Nuno Brandão Costa focusing on triptychs of architectural works in Europe designed by European architects. For distinct reasons and contexts, these works became relevant to the author, serving as objects of fascination and influencing his path as an architect and professor from his training to the present day.

«In Conflict Vol. 1», published by Circo de Ideias and edited by depA architects, Carlos Azevedo, João Crisóstomo, Luís Sobral, and Miguel Santos, presents the research conducted for the Portuguese representation at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. The book responds to the question posed by Hashim Sarkis, general curator of the 2021 Biennale Architettura: ‘How will we live together?’, by revisiting a selection of Portuguese architectural processes in democracy, shaped by broad public debate between political power, the press, and civil society.

The Council of Architecture and Urbanism of Rio de Janeiro (CAU/RJ) will hold the first edition of "CAU nos Bairros" (CAU in the Neighborhoods) in Campo Grande on June 1st and 2nd.
