Over the past two decades, the Holcim Foundation Awards has committed USD 20M to spotlight transformative projects by architects, designers, and engineers who pioneer sustainable design and construction practices. To capture these stories, the Foundation launched a short film series titled Words withWinners.
This series provides an in-depth look at award-winning sustainable design projects through exclusive interviews with their creators. It includes the first film to showcase BRAC University campus, recently completed in Dhaka, featuring an exclusive interview with the lead architect and co-founder of Singaporean green building specialists WOHA Wong Mun Summ.
Arquitectura en Corto invites you to the screening of the short film Les Matérialistes, which will take place on Wednesday, January 29, at 7:00 PM at the Arquia Foundation (c/Tutor, 16, Madrid). What construction materials will be used in 2050? Directors Jonathan Lapalme and Meggan Collins define Les Matérialistes as a docufiction film that blends current data with future projections to invite a collective reflection on the model shift required to transition toward a circular economy and carbon neutrality. Following the screening, the event will feature Alicia Carvajal, an architect from Dark Matter Labs—one of the organizations that supported the short film and the Les Matérialistes project—along with Lucas Muñoz, a designer recognized for his reuse of materials in his projects, and Albert Sagrera, an architect and environmental consultant specializing in the environmental impact of materials and construction waste management.

The Phasing Animation feature in D5 Render 2.9 redefines how professionals present complex projects. It simplifies the creation of dynamic, step-by-step visualizations, perfect for showcasing construction phases, product assemblies, and landscape transformations. With pre-designed templates like Drop/Rise or Ascend/Descend, users can quickly arrange objects in sequence without the need for complex keyframing, making it easier to illustrate how a structure is built, how a product is installed, or how elements grow and evolve within a landscape.

The Tishman Speyer Pavilion was conceived to engage with the urban space—facilitating experiences, the exchange of ideas, and connections—while simultaneously serving as a refuge from the bustle of modern life. Open to the public free of charge, the space brings together works by renowned artists such as Artur Lescher, Tomie Ohtake, and Amélia Toledo. The Pavilion is a work of art that provides experiences and connects the neighborhood to the future. The architectural design was developed by Atelier Peclat and consists of sandblasted glass block walls, reviving an element of 1960s architecture. This structure lends an intangible quality to the space, with its transparencies and opacities, creating a sense of mystery through the interplay of light and shadow formed between the interior and exterior areas.

As one recent graduate aptly put it, "I would describe the program as a crash course in how to think differently and most importantly a chance to meet inspiring classmates who are looking to do the same thing."
