Established as one of the most significant events hosted by the Escola da Cidade – Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, the International Seminar reaches its 14th edition with the theme “The Right to the City, Still?”

The Fundació Mies van der Rohe, in partnership with USM, presents the EU Mies Award for Young Talent Architecture in São Paulo. The presentation will be followed by the "Architectural Education: Europe-Brazil" debate, featuring architect and professor Renato Anelli. A panel discussion will follow, featuring Anelli, Anna Sala of the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, and architect and editor Romullo Baratto, moderated by Ethel Leon, coordinator of the ATEC Cultural program.

On Friday, January 11, 2019, a discussion on architectural spaces will be held with architects Davide Sacconi and Abdelkader Damani, moderated by Gabriel Kogan. The event will feature two institutions, exploring their different scales, audiences, content, and approaches, as well as potential dialogues with the Brazilian scene. The event is free and open to the public.

The Regional Meeting of Architecture and Urbanism Students (EREA) is an annual event held in each of the Federation's regions. EREA addresses topics related to our education, providing students with opportunities for debate, knowledge acquisition, and the exchange of experiences. These interactions strengthen reflection on various issues concerning architectural and urban education and professional practice, particularly in light of the challenges inherent in urban development and social organization. EREA plays a fundamental role in building and structuring the regional architecture and urbanism student movement. By bringing together hundreds of students, dozens of grassroots organizations, and collectives around common agendas, it fosters local mobilization within their respective cities and universities.

The opening event takes place on March 12. The exhibition "New Paths for Social Housing" aims to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Habitação e Cidade (Housing and City) postgraduate program by reflecting on issues related to the production of human habitat.

Escola da Cidade Open Courses – 1st Semester 2019 – Registration Open

On August 26 and 27, the second workshop of the project will take place, themed: “Comprehensive City – A New Vision of the Metropolis.” The proposal is to reflect on the issues surrounding large metropolises in the 21st century, focusing primarily on the perspective of people, the connections created between them and the city, and, above all, how architects, as professionals, can act as mediators in the challenges of the contemporary city.

João Pessoa will host council members of the Institute of Architects of Brazil for its 156th national meeting. Architects and urban planners from across the country will gather from April 24 to 27 to address matters concerning the organization.

CineCubo is a film club hosted by the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB) designed to foster dialogue between audiovisual and architectural languages and to debate perspectives on the city. On the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM, CineCubo screens films followed by a discussion at the IAB-SP headquarters. Curated and moderated by Nana Maiolini, Travessia Filmes, and invited guests, the sessions are free and open to the general public.

Escola da Cidade and Sesc host meetings with Paraguayan architects Solano Benitez and Gloria Cabral

 A new series of meetings opens a conversation on minimalism between Isis Gomes, of the slow fashion brand Saint Studio, and Mariana Schmidt, partner at MNMA—a studio that integrates disciplines with a strong visual appeal—at the {CURA} headquarters this October.

In January and February 2020, Gabriel Kogan will present two courses on architectural history in São Paulo. The first explores international contemporary architecture, focusing on the work of architects such as Rem Koolhaas, Toyo Ito, Kazuyo Sejima, Ryue Nishizawa, Alvaro Siza, and Peter Zumthor.
