More about this product

Since 1877, barth has created bespoke interior solutions for jewelers, boutiques, museums, company headquarters, private residences, and hospitality spaces around the world.

Situated on the iconic Via del Babuino, the newly transformed Hausmann & Co. boutique introduces a bold architectural identity under the name EDGE. Conceived by architects Marco Covini and Giorgio Marco Grandi of GGAVPS Studio, the project represents more than a renovation. It redefines the multibrand retail experience for fine timepieces through spatial storytelling, material sophistication, and a design language deeply rooted in the Roman context.

The new façade announces itself with a sharply angular showcase that projects from the outdoor gallery as both display and gesture. More than a window, it acts as a sculptural threshold, inviting visitors into a sequence of layered perspectives and shifting sightlines. Movement through the store becomes a journey of discovery, where spatial rhythm encourages exploration and rewards curiosity.

A decisive intervention defines the interior: the removal of a central load-bearing column to create an open exhibition zone that now forms the spatial and symbolic heart of the boutique. This transformation allowed the architecture itself to embody Hausmann’s identity—confident, refined, and anchored in place. A central jewelry display recalls the architectural vernacular of Rome while introducing a moment of precision and surprise.

The palette is drawn from the city itself. Roman travertine, employed in a range of sophisticated finishes, meets brass and bronze surfaces chosen for their warmth and permanence. These noble materials are complemented by contemporary details: acoustically treated ceilings in fine textiles, transparent glass insertions, and lighting tuned to emphasize the timepieces without disturbing the overall harmony. The result is a dialogue between stone and metal, tradition and modernity, weight and lightness.

The interiors were realized by barth, whose craftsmanship translated the design into finely executed physical elements. Showcase blocks with interchangeable back panels and extra-clear glass are paired with discreet drawers in matte lacquer. A central dark-bronze display structure with safety glazing offers transparency and acoustic insulation, while leather-lined shelving introduces refined tactility. The entrance portal, crafted in satin bronze with smoked glass sliding doors, defines the transition from exterior to interior with elegance. Freestanding counters and furniture combine bronzed brass, travertine, and leather into coherent sculptural forms, while functional spaces such as offices, service areas, and storage are treated with equal care. In the jewelry section, walnut shelving and brass-detailed tables extend the language of refinement.

“The design of the EDGE boutique centers on sculptural clarity and spatial identity. Key elements like the sales counters were conceived as formal statements, anchoring the space and embodying Hausmann’s distinct character. A defining feature—the jewelry showcase—serves both as a perspectival device and structural innovation, made possible by the removal of a load-bearing column. This precise and poetic intervention reflects the essence of EDGE: a dialogue between heritage and transformation.”
