At the 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin, a pioneering project is redefining what sustainable refurbishment in the hospitality industry can look like. For more than a decade, the hotel has relied on Kaldewei bathtubs and shower surfaces in its guest bathrooms. As part of a recent renovation, these elements were not discarded but instead returned to the manufacturer, where they underwent a comprehensive upcycling process before being reinstalled. This unique initiative marks the first large-scale demonstration of a genuine circular economy in the bathroom and construction sector.

Through a carefully developed technical process, the dismantled products were stripped, treated, and completely re-enamelled. The refurbished surfaces were also enhanced with Kaldewei Secure Plus, an anti-slip finish that increases stability and ensures additional safety for hotel guests. The results are bathroom objects that meet the highest standards of performance and aesthetics, while generating 65 percent less CO₂ emissions compared to manufacturing new products.
