Schenker Storen develops and produces a wide range of sun and weather protection products for both indoor and outdoor areas. The Zurich-Witikon is a residential project built entirely in solid wood without glue or metal connections, showcasing a consistently sustainable construction method. Schenker Storen's vertical fabric blinds were chosen to complement the project's energetic performance.
The appearance of the façade is characterised by vertical wooden slats, which are arranged rhythmically and structure the building as a second skin. The exterior walls consist of solid timber elements, complemented by a diffusion-open clay plaster that regulates the indoor climate in a natural way. To complement the passive climate control, vertical fabric blinds from Schenker Storen were integrated into the façade system. The choice fell on a robust, weather-resistant fabric in a warm brown colour that blends harmoniously into the building's natural material palette.
The blinds not only provide functional sun protection, but also contribute to the visual elegance of the façade thanks to their vertical structure. They were integrated in such a way that they support the clear design language of the building and are hardly noticeable when they are not needed.
